Vibes Only: The Testament of Ann Lee

Directed by Mona Fastvold, The Testament of Ann Lee (2025) follows Ann Lee herself, a member of the Shakers in 18th-century England, as she leads and expands their movement to the United States. It is an epic musical and, while it does not focus closely on the furniture our industry so reveres, the film does trace how Shaker values were embedded in their labor, craftsmanship, and use of materials.

Inspired by the minimalist ingenuity of Shaker furniture, we’ve pulled together a selection of work that shares the movement’s emphasis on functional beauty.
