The Rocking Table Lamp continues the Ishibatate series in everyday objects. Using a hand-forged river stone from Trout Brook in combination with off-cut maple and cherry, it highlights lightness and weight through the species’ color variation. The design pushes the limitations of the material in both form and function. The thin stem supports an even thinner lampshade. The sheer veil allows the frame of the piece to remain visible, while the beeswax-laminated overcoat diffuses the light. Animated by a breeze or passing body, the shade dances.
