A SPACE

A  S P A C E is the creative partnership of Anna Aristova and Roza Gazarian, founded in 2016. Anna and Roza drew on their multicultural backgrounds and independent careers in art and design to create a practice rooted in the profound appreciation of the simple moments and rituals that infuse the everyday with beauty. They create limited edition and bespoke furniture and design objects, often in close collaboration with craftsmen around the world.

Pronounced “ah” in reference to the Tibetan syllable that represents the essence of all phenomena, A Space is a state of mind and being. The studio cultivates a sense of openness and spontaneity where ideas and experiences are translated through experimentation until they materialize into forms that exist somewhere between art and design. Untethered to any one style, their work is united by something more ephemeral: a sense of connection. To a particular place, a specific material, a certain time of day. Each object is an invitation to look beyond the surface and connect to something primordial.

Travel and discovery have always been central to Anna and Roza’s creative process, and many of their collections emerge in response to the countries and cultures in which they have lived and worked. Today, the studio is based in New York and London but remains global in its perspective. Anna and Roza partner with craftsmen and workshops from Armenia to Japan.

As a full-scope design studio, A Space offers expertise throughout all stages of the process. Taking a personal approach to each client and their needs, the studio works with architects, interior designers, and other trade professionals to realize their creative vision through custom requests and collaborations. Clients include Holly Hunt, Kelly Wearstler, NICOLEHOLLIS, and Romanek Design Studio, among others. Their work can be experienced in person at Colony in NYC and Boon in Paris.

A SPACE

A  S P A C E is a New York-based design & art studio, co-founded by Anna Aristova and Roza Gazarian in 2016. Our collaborative pieces are an attempt to bring in the timeless beauty of nature to contemporary lifestyle, whether it’s functional furniture or a decorative object. The essence of each of our creations is a sense of a vast open space, where ideas, thoughts or feelings spontaneously arise, evolve through experimentation and ultimately manifest as a functional art piece. Each object is a one-of-a-kind creation that beckons to look beyond mere form and material, and to connect to the primordial nature of the elements. Our work is a constant balance of opposites -- improvisation and thoughtful planning, intuition and knowledge, organic and geometric, timelessness and impermanence.
